Sealing with Buddhist Sanskrit Text - Front View

Eastern India - 8th-12th century CE

Grayish-brown terracotta disk with seal impression. Complete impression of the seal.  There was an air pocket in the clay which has left a small linear hole in the lower right surface of the sealing surface affecting some of the text.  Minor wear to outer edges/ridges of sealing

Type 1 seal containing 7 bands of text separated by lines.

Undecorated. Rounded back. Surface is damaged. It has been abraded and shows signs of surface wear.

2.7 cm high

2.8 cm wide

0.8 cm thick
